Image
Changing lives through DDU-GKY Skill Training Chandramani Kumari from Silam village of Gumla district was a school dropout after class 8 th and belongs to a poor tribal family of 10 people. In her family she has her Mother, Father, Grandmother and 6 siblings (2 sisters and 4 brothers). Her father is a marginal farmer and with the poor family’s income of Rs. 60-70 thousand per year, the family faces a lot of financial crisis. Chandramani’s mother and grandmother are often ill and family’s income was not enough for their treatment, apart from meeting basic livelihood need of such a large family. But today Chandramani Kumari is independent and working as a sewing machine operator at Shahi Exports Pvt Ltd, Bangalore and earning 9,200 Rs per month. She has now doubled the income of her family. She is a source of motivation for her village. Her family is very proud of her as relatives & neighbours are motivated and willing to send their children to skill training centre
